			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Perry Township History Club, Inc. will sponsor a WORKDAY at the storage facility on Genoa Ave SW, just south of the rail-road tracks. SATURDAY APRIL <span style="color: #ff0000;">28</span>, 2012 at 2:00 PM The club has amassed nearly thirty (30) authentic student school desks and time has come to clean-up these antiques for eventual placement inside the 1893 Genoa one-room Schoolhouse. So, we will be brushing and dusting and cleaning and tagging for inventory and securely wrapping each desk, but not before a photo of each one is made with some descriptive remarks. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>An outstanding period instrument in excellent condition was recently acquired* by the Perry Township History Club, Inc.</strong> As far back as we all can recall, schools had music instruction. In the 1920&#8242;s, Genoa School began serving a a congregation which eventually became what is now Trinity United Methodist Church, Lincoln Way, east of Genoa Ave. If any family has wedding or other photos from the old school/church, please contact someone from the club. It&#8217;s been reported that as a &#8220;reformed&#8221; church, the worshipers sat on the north and south sides of the building, half for all men and the other half for all women. The children were seated in the front  and the teens met for Sunday School in the basement which featured a dirt floor useable in wet weather by walking on wood planks on the muddy ground.</p>
<p><strong>*<em>Mr. John Arcadian&#8217;s grandfather was a carpenter and worked on musical instruments, hence this instrument being in pristine condition. John is pleased that the family piano will bring enjoyment to Perry residents and visitors for years to come. He included numerous player piano rolls, also in very good condition</em></strong>. While John could have sold this expensive piece, he chose aesthetic preservation.</p>
<p>The piano is being provided a good, temporary home with Dr. Warren and Lora Norton who live in a recently restored Victorian mansion in SW Massillon &#8230; THANK YOU, Nortons!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the scoop: club member Paul Jackson found this piano listed for free in the antiques section of Craig&#8217;slist. Wow!</p>
